We tried the tobacco onions over the weekend and they are delicious. Forget the mess of onion rings. These were so quick and easy.

I made it but first I soaked the onions in hot sauce for about 30 minutes. The recipe is great! And not all the work like making onion rings.

There used to be a restaurant near us that had tobacco onions as a very popular appetizer, and I've missed them ever since the restaurant closed a couple of years ago. I'm headed to a picnic and was asked to bring a finger-friendly side dish and I thought of those wonderful tobacco onions, and then I found this recipe. I used a mandoline to slice mine in very thin rings, and they only need a minute or two for each batch to cook. Amazingly, it perfectly recreated the wonderful tobacco onions that I have missed so much. Thanks for posting this.
