Ingredients
| 1/3 cup | of shortening or | | butter | | 1/3 cup | brown sugar | | 2 | eggs | | 2/3 cup | sorghum molasses | | 3-1/2 cup | all purpose flour | | 1 tsp. | baking soda | | 1 tsp. | cinnamon | | 1 tsp. | ginger powder | | 3 tbsp. | white sugar | | 1/2 tsp. | salt | | 1/2 tsp. | vanilla |

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream shortening, sugars, and eggs. Add molasses. Beat well. Sift together flour, salt, soda, and spices and stir into batter. Add vanilla last.
Roll 1/2 inch on floured board. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes. Store in stone jar. To keep cookies soft, put slice of white bread or half an apple on top.
