Ukrainian Meat Balls in Sour Cream

4 tbsp. | butter | 1/2 cup | chopped onions | 3/4 cup | white bread cubes | 1/3 cup | milk | 2 lbs. | ground beef | 2 | eggs | 2 tsp. | salt | 1/2 tsp. | freshly ground black pepper | 1/4 tsp. | thyme | 1/2 cup | flour | 1 cup | beef broth | 1-1/2 cup | sour cream |

Instructions
Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter in a skillet; saute the onions 5 minutes. Soak the bread cubes in the milk for 5 minutes, then mash smooth. Mix together the onions, soaked bread, beef, eggs, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix until very smooth. Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in the flour.
Melt the remaining butter in a skillet; brown the meat balls on all sides. Mix in the broth and sour cream. Cover and cook over low heat 30 minutes. Serve with boiled potatoes or noodles. Serves 4-6.
