Sweet 'n' Sassy Pork Chili

Ingredients
1 lb. | hot Italian sausage | 1/2 lb. | ground pork | 1 | red onion, chopped | 1 cup | celery | 1 | red bell pepper, chopped | 1 | green bell pepper, chopped | 2 | hot Hungarian banana peppers, seeded and chopped* | 2 cans (14-1/2 oz. each) | diced tomatoes | 4 cups | V8 or | | tomato juice | 4 cloves | garlic, minced | 1/2 tbsp. | chili powder | 1/2 tsp. | basil | 1/2 tsp. | oregano | 2 tbsp. | brown sugar | | Cheddar cheese, for topping (optional) |

Instructions
In saucepan, brown and crumble the sausage and pork; drain.
Crockpot:
Add sausage, pork, onion, celery, peppers, tomato juice and spices to crockpot. Mix well. Cook in HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Ladle into bowls. Top with cheese if desired.
Stove top:
Add sausage, pork, onion, celery, peppers, tomato juice and spices to large pot. Mix well. Heat to boiling. Simmer for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Ladle into bowls. Top with cheese if desired.
Author's Comments
* This chili will be spicy using the hot peppers. Use mild or sweet peppers if you'd like to tone it down a bit.
