Rum Manhattan to the Rescue

Manhattans are usually made with whiskey or bourbon, but rum does the job well too.

2-1/2 oz. dark rum, preferably the good stuff
1 part (3/4 oz.) sweet vermouth
2 dashes bitters
Orange zest peel and Maraschino cherries for garnish


Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the rum, vermouth and bitters. Put lid on shaker, and shake it like you mean it.

Using a cocktail strainer, strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange zest twist and cherries.
