Pineapple Sheet Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 can (1-1/4 lb.) crushed pineapple in heavy syrup


1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 box (1 lb.) confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup butter or
margarine, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts


In a large mixing bowl, combine cake ingredients. Mix until smooth. Pour into a greased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes. Cool. Meanwhile, for icing, combine cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, butter and vanilla in a small mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Spread over cake and sprinkle with nuts.
