Time

prep 0:15       total 1:00

Yield

3 dozen

Ingredients

Ingredients

2-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp. vanilla
2 x-lg. eggs
1-1/2 lb. chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl, set aside. Cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Do not over beat mixture. Add eggs one at a time, combining well after each addition. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips, in 2 or 3 additions, mixing well. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for approximately 10 minutes, until lightly browned and centers have just set - they should look almost a bit underdone. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes to cool before moving to wire racks to finish cooling.

Author's Comments

Cookies will be more moist than from standard recipes, and will pull apart easily when very warm.

Wow! Delicious, really gooey! I made mine on pizza stones with a tiny bit of Crisco, and they were a bit hard to get off. Just make sure they sit long enough! Exceptionally delicious, a family favorite. Make sure not to refrigerate the dough, it does compromise some of the gooeyness.

Wow... this exactly what I was looking for, and have been looking for for so long! A little bit crusty on the outside, chocolatey and gooey on the inside.

Tasted great! But I did find the amount of butter in the recipe a little much. Would it taste the same without so much butter?

My cookies were way too salty. Is it because I used salted butter?

This is the Nestle Tollhouse original chocolate chip cookie recipe with the exception of an extra teaspoon of vanilla.

I followed the recipe. But mine were nothing like a cookie....it melted all over the pan. Wish i had a gooey cookie, instead of wasting all those ingredients!
