Chocolate Snickerdoodles



6 dozen



1 cup shortening
1-1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2-3/4 cup flour
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup cocoa
2 tsp. cream of tartar
Sugar, for rolling in


Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add remaining ingredients. Mix together. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll batter into 1" balls. Then roll in sugar. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes.

I went to and typed in Chocolate Snickerdoodles. I think this is the recipe that I'm looking for because it has no brown sugar. But when I make it, I plan to roll the cookies in powdered sugar. I used to have this recipe but it got lost or misplaced. I should put my favorite recipes in a pocket album. This might also be known as Chocolate Crinkles but I didn't type in those words. Anxious to try this recipe.
