Heat oven to 350°F. Generously butter a 13x9-inch baking pan. In a mixer bowl cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until blended. Add cocoa, vanilla and salt. Beat until blended. In a small bowl combine buttermilk and baking soda, whisk until blended. Reduce mixer speed to low. Add flour alternately with 1 cup Coke, beginning and ending with flour, beating at low speed after each addition until well blended. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until cake begins to pull away from sides of pan. Do not overbake. Cool on a wire rack.

This cake tastes best if made 8-24 hours before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
