This is wonderful, I have always known this dish as chicken tikka masala and loved it but all the recipies I found called for at least a 24 hour prep. This recipe was easy and fool proof - trust me I mess up lots of things that claim to be fool proof. I made this for company and it turned out prefect. Not to hot not to mild. My only suggestion is to list in under indian food too.

I have had butter chicken several times at authentic indian restaurants, sometimes it tastes like tomato soup or something, and other times its sweet and spicy. I LOVE this recipe. I made it once and fell in love with it, as did my husband, and as we speak I have the chicken marinating to make more! I am obssessed, its amazing. I am going to recommend it to my friends and family! Try this!

Great recipe! Easy & delicious, even my two picky kids ate it! I served it over egg noodles. Next time, will add a bit of paprika & maybe some red pepper, as this is not as spicy as one would think! Would work with shrimp, too.

Instructions
Mix buttermilk, ginger, garlic and spices together. Add tomato paste. Add washed and cubed chicken to marinade; allow to marinate for 30 minutes. While chicken is marinating, saute the onions in the butter, on medium heat. Add marinated chicken, cook for 15 minutes on medium-low heat. Remove from heat, add fresh cream and stir well. Return to heat, cook for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped corriander leaves. Serve immediately.
