Besciamella - White Sauce

2 cups



3 tbsp. butter
2 to 3 tbsp. flour
2 cups warm milk


In a sauce pan melt butter. Meanwhile, warm milk separately in microwave or on stove (do not overheat). Next add flour to butter and stir. Slowly add warm milk while constantly stirring. Stir until sauce thickens. You must constantly stir or sauce will not thicken and burn.

This is a very simple white sauce that is typically used to compliment other sauces in baked dishes such as bakes ziti & lasagna.
