Basic Marinara

Ingredients
2 cans (1-3/4 lb. each) | San Marzano tomatoes or | | plum tomatoes | 1/4 cup | olive oil | 5 cloves | garlic, chopped | 1 | lg. bay leaf | 12 | leaves fresh basil, shredded | 8 | leaves oregano, shredded | 1 dash | crushed red pepper flakes | | Salt, to taste | | Pepper, to taste |

Instructions
Add the tomatoes to a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, add the olive oil, garlic and the bay leaf. Simmer for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, add the basil, oregano and crushed red pepper flakes. Season a touch with salt and pepper. Allow to simmer for 15 minutes. Taste, and season with salt and pepper until the sauce is to your liking.
You may also use an immersion blender to blend the sauce to a finer consistency. Just make sure you remove the bay leaf first if you decide to do so.
