In a greased shallow 2-cup baking dish toss the croutons, ham and butter. Break the eggs carefully on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350°F for 15 to 18 minutes or until eggs reach desired doneness.
Eggs go very well with all type of hams but my favorite is the Spanish one called jamon iberico de bellota or pata negra. Jamon Serrano is of lower quality but also good for some dishes.
