manicotti

Manicotti are cylinder-shaped pasta noodles that are 4 inches long and 1 inch in diameter. These cylinders are stuffed with meat, ricotta cheese and pasta sauce before being baked in the oven. The term manicotti refers both to the noodle and the prepared dish that includes this pasta. They are named after the Italian word for sleeve, but are known in Italy as cannelloni.
