maple syrup

A syrup made by cooking down the sap from a maple tree. Maple tree farmers throughout the northeastern United States and Canada collect the maple sap and use 50 gallons of maple sap to create 1 gallon of maple syrup. The sugary, aromatic syrup is used on French toast, pancakes and waffles, and is also used to sweeten hams and roasts.
