Ingredients:

1 lb. hot Italian sausage
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 red onion, chopped
1 cup celery
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 hot Hungarian banana peppers, seeded and chopped*
2 cans (14-1/2 oz. each) diced tomatoes
4 cups V8 or tomato juice
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
2 tbsp. brown sugar
Cheddar cheese, for topping (optional)

Directions:

In saucepan, brown and crumble the sausage and pork; drain.

Crockpot:
Add sausage, pork, onion, celery, peppers, tomato juice and spices to crockpot. Mix well. Cook in HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Ladle into bowls. Top with cheese if desired.

Stove top:
Add sausage, pork, onion, celery, peppers, tomato juice and spices to large pot. Mix well. Heat to boiling. Simmer for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Ladle into bowls. Top with cheese if desired.

* This chili will be spicy using the hot peppers. Use mild or sweet peppers if you'd like to tone it down a bit.
