Ingredients:

4 red peppers, julienned
4 green peppers, julienned
2 md. onions, julienned
1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
4 fl. oz. brandy
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
1/4 cup beef stock
4 (10 oz. each) sirloin steaks
2 tsp. garlic, minced
2 cups heavy cream
Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

Season the steaks with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large pan and brown off the steaks on both sides until medium rare. Remove the steaks and keep warm. Add the peppers, onion, mushrooms and garlic and saute but do not over cook. Deglaze the pan with the brandy. Add beef stock, heavy cream and dijon mustard. Let the sauce reduce until it thickens a little and add some chopped chives to finish. Pour the sauce over the warm steaks.

Comments from einar :

This is also very good on chicken, seafood and even on burgers. Just change the stock for what you are making it for.

User Reviews:

i invited friends over for dinner and wanted to prepare something easy and yummy so i decided to try your recipe. well, my guests so impressed that they actually asked for the recipe. it was really delicious and easy to make!

I make steak diane in 15 minutes. I use strips of fillet steak, finley chopped onions, finley chopped mushrooms, dried oregano, cracked steak pepper, course sea salt, and the best parts are: dry white wine and fresh double cream. Just fry all the above except last two, for 5 minutes, then add wine, cook for 10 minutes, add cream last, bring it to simmer and serve, with broken french baguette. ABSOLUTLEY FANTASTIC.

When I made this for Valentines day, my wife was so happy. She said "This is even better than restraunt steaks." I thought the same way.
