Ingredients:

5 lg. potatoes
1 onion, thinly sliced
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 cup evaporated skim milk

Directions:

Peel potatoes and slice paper thin. Layer potatoes and onions in baking pan, sprinkling lightly with nutmeg and pepper while layering. Pour milk over mixture. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until tender. Add extra skim milk if needed.

This seemed like something popular in the 1800s. Not many ingredients and very easy to put together... I didn't really care for this dish a whole lot. It was just missing something... like some flavor. At least some salt and cheese would be very, very helpful.
