Ingredients:

4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
3 tbsp. butter, softened
3/4 cup milk

Directions:

Sift flour, salt, spices and baking powder. Beat eggs and sugar. Add vanilla, melted shortening, milk and dry ingredients. Make a soft dough and roll to 1/3-inch thick. Cut as for doughnuts and drop into hot oil. Serve plain or roll in confectioner's sugar.
