Prep. Time:

Total Time:

Ingredients:

Cooking oil, for frying
2 cups Quick Mix
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, well beaten
1/3 cup milk or water

Vanilla glaze:
1-1/4 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

In a deep-fryer heat oil to 375°F. In a medium bowl combine Quick Mix, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Blend well.

In a small bowl mix together vanilla, egg and milk or water. Add all at once to dry ingredients. Stir until well-blended.

On a lightly floured surface, knead dough approximately 10 minutes. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a floured doughnut cutter. Fry in hot oil approximately 1 minute on each side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

While doughnuts cool slightly, prepare vanilla glaze. Dip warm doughnuts in glaze.

User Reviews:

Terrible! There was not enough Quick Mix in the dough. Kneading used up almost another cup of flour in order to make the dough managable. The doughnuts were dry, perhaps because there is no shortening in the recipe.
