Ingredients:

5 md. onions
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 cups shredded American cheese

Directions:

Cut onions into thin slices; separate into rings. Place onion rings in an ungreased 1-1/2 quart casserole. Melt butter in saucepan; blend in flour, and gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add salt, pepper and cheese; stir until cheese has melted. Pour sauce over onions. Bake, uncovered, at 325°F for approximately 45 minutes.
