2 chicken bouillon cubes
2-1/2 cups water
1/2 turnip
1 lg. potato
1/4 cup butter
1 onion
2 shallots
3 tbsp. flour
3 cups milk
Salt and pepper

Directions:

Chop turnip (I do this in advance), potatoes, onion and shallots. Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Dissolve chicken bouillon cubes. Add chopped turnip and potatoes. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer.
In a saucepan, melt butter and saute onions and shallots for about 4 minutes. Sprinkle slowly with flour, mixing until fully blended. Fold in milk, stirring well. Simmer until mixture thickens, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir into turnip/potatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
For a thicker chowder , let soup simmer further. Serve and enjoy! Good with fresh bread!
