1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3/4 cup chicken broth
1-1/2 cups milk
1 cup broccoli, chopped
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions:

In a saucepan, sauté the onion in butter until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper; cook and stir until smooth and bubbly. Add broth and milk all at once; cook and stir until the mixture boils and thickens. Add broccoli. Simmer, stirring constantly, until heated through. Remove from the heat and stir in cheese until melted.

I doubled the recipe, thought it was a little bland. Added some garlic seasoning and it tasted very good. Was very thick, had to thin it out with more milk. |

Had the In-laws over and her father is very picky. He loved it. I recommend it over and over. Easy to make and great for times like this. |

This recipe is both simple and scrumptious! The only thing I did differently was to add an additional 1/2 Cup cheddar, since I like a really strong cheddar flavor. Very highly recommended! |
