Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp. melted shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1-3/4 cups hot water
3/4 cup sugar

Directions:

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and 2 Tablespoons of cocoa together. Stir in milk and shortening. Spread in a 9x9-inch pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar and remaining cocoa on top. Pour the hot water evenly over everything. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°F.

This makes a cake-like layer on top, with chocolate sauce on the bottom. It's even better with real whipped cream on top.
