1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well with spoon after each addition. Add cocoa; beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder and salt; beat well. Stir in nuts, if desired. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

User Reviews:

Great easy brownies. I used 1/2 cup real butter and 1/2 cup maragine and baked for 25 minutes in starware bake ware. I will use this recipe over and over!

Awesome brownies and so fudgy. And anyone that does any baking will have all the ingredients on hand. My kids loved them.

This is absolutely the very BEST brownie recipe I've found and I've been cooking since I was 8...and that is a long time. Moist and fudgy and that is even without the icing. I even cut back to 1 1\2 sugar, used sunflower seeds for the nuts and my family stills raves about them.
