Apple and Cheese Torte

Ingredients:

1 stick butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar divided
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 egg
4 thinly sliced apples
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk
2 tbsp. toasted slivered almonds

Directions:

Cream together butter, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Add flour and when it is well blended, press the mixture into the bottom and up sides of a 9" springform pan.

Beat together the cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, the egg and 1/2 tsp vanilla until smooth. Pour into prepared crust. Toss the apples lightly with 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Layer evenly over cream cheese batter.

Bake at 450°F for 10 min then reduce oven temp to 400°F and bake for 30-35 minutes until apples test done.

Cool the pan, then remove the sides of pan and place on a serving plate.

Combine the powdered sugar and milk and drizzle over the torte and garnish with almonds.
