1 cake

Prep. Time:

Total Time:

Ingredients:

Cake:
1 cup shortening *
6 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
3 cups self-rising flour, sifted
2 tsp. vanilla

Icing:
7 tbsp. cocoa
3 cups sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup canned milk

Directions:

Mix as for any layer cake, have batter a little thinner than usual. Put 4 tablespoons batter in cake pans that have been line with wax paper and greased. Bake at 350°F a very short time. Just dry out, do not cook too long or allow to get brown. Let cool partially before removing from pans.

Icing:
Mix sugar and cocoa evenly. Add milk a little at a time. Add butter and let boil in medium heat about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and let cool. It will thicken as it cools. Spread on layers. (If you want a lot of frosting, you can double the recipe.)
