Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups rolled oats
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 pkg. (12 oz.) chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Sift flour, salt and baking soda together. Blend shortening and sugars. Add eggs. Beat until fluffy. Add flour mixture and mix well. Add oats last, then vanilla and chocolate chips. Nuts may also be added, if desired. Dough will be crumbly. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F about 10-12 minutes, until brown.
