Total Time:

Ingredients:

1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. finely minced onion
1/3 cup milk
2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. beef bouillon powder
1 lb. lean ground beef

Savory Sauce:
1 tbsp. butter or hard margarine
1 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup apple juice
1 cup skim evaporated milk
2 tsp. chopped green onion.

Directions:

FOR THE SALISBURY STEAK: Measure bread crumbs, salt, pepper, onion, milk, soy sauce and bouillon powder into bowl. Stir.

Add ground beef. Mix well. Shape into 4 small oval patties 3/4 inch thick. Broil 8 to 10 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Makes 4 “steaks”.

FOR THE SAVORY SAUCE: Melt butter in frying pan. Mix in flour and salt. Stir in apple juice, milk and green onion. Heat and stir until mixture boils and thickens, being sure to loosen any brown bits in pan. Pour over steaks. Serves 2.

Comments from olga :

Serve these with a sauce for the ultimate flavor. Use pan drippings to make Savory Sauce.
