Total Time:

Ingredients:

6 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup milk powder
1/4 cup baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 cups shortening
1-1/2 cups Water (or more if needed)

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients together with fork. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Stir in about 1 1/2 cups water. If dry add 1/4 cup more. Turn onto floured surface, knead 8 to 10 times. Roll dough 3/4 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Do not twist with biscuit cutter, just straight down and up. This will make them puff up more. Bake at 400 F. for 20-25 minutes. Makes 45—2-inch biscuits.

Comments from olga :

These freeze well. Put on cookie sheet, freeze, then put in bags to store. Bake frozen biscuits about 30 minutes at 400 F.
