Total Time:

Ingredients:

4 cups sifted flour
7/8 tsp. scant baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 pinch salt
1-3/4 cups blanched almonds, grated
1 cup plus 2 tbsp. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup brandy
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Directions:

Sift flour with baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Stir in almonds and sugar. Combine brandy, milk and butter, and stir into flour mixture. Add more flour if necessary to give a dough that will pack together firmly. Press into a roll, wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight. Cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices.

Arrange on a lightly buttered cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 375 degrees F. oven for 10 minutes. Cool on a rack.
