Vegetable oil for deep frying
2-1/2 cups flour
1 pinch cinnamon
1 pinch nutmeg
1-1/4 cups sweet cider or flat beer
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tart apples, cored, peeled, each cut into 8 wedges
Icing sugar
Lemon quarters

Directions:

Preheat deep fryer to 325°F.

Mix flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Combine with cider or beer and salt to make a smooth batter. Let batter sit for 15 minutes at room temperature.

User Reviews:

For Asian people with a taste for spicy food; this recipe can be spiced up by adding red peppers or Tobasco (but don't try it at home)
