Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups sliced apples
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 cup sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

Cream 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp. vanilla in a bowl until fluffy. Add flour gradually until mixture forms soft dough. Press into the bottom and up the sides of a 9 inch pie pan.

Cream 1/4 cup sugar and cream cheese in a bowl until fluffy. Add egg and 1/2 tsp. vanilla; beat until smooth. Spread over crust.

Combine apples, cinnamon and 2/3 cup sugar in a bowl; mix well. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Pat with 1 tbsp. butter. Sprinkle with pecans.

Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 30 minutes. (Cover with foil if you want to prevent excess browning during the last 30 minutes of cooking).
