Ingredients:

1 loaf fresh French or Italian bread
1 cube butter, softened (not margarine)
1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan
6 cloves garlic, chopped fine
Parsley flakes, fresh or dried, to taste

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare aluminum foil by putting 2 pieces of foil, slightly longer than bread loaf, one on top of the other. Fold one edge of the foil pieces over, about 1/4 inch, 2 or 3 times to make one large sheet of foil.

In a bowl, combine softened butter, garlic, and cheese until well blended. Cut bread loaf in half, lengthwise, separating the top of the loaf from the bottom. Spread half of butter on each half loaf. Sprinkle both sides with parsley. Put halves back together and cut loaf into pieces about 2-1/2 inches wide.

Reassemble loaf on aluminum foil and seal foil around the bread. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F. Serve.
