Ingredients:

1 pkg. Kielbasa sausage, chopped in 1/2-inch thick pieces
1 head cabbage
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup sugar
4 red potatoes, quartered
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/5 cup water or 1/5 cup chicken stock

Directions:

Put a large stock pot on the stove and pre-heat to medium-high. Cut the cabbage on each side and the top, leaving the base of the head.*

Turn burner up to high. Add just enough water or chicken stock to cover the bottom of the stock pot. Add cabbage sides and top, sausage, potatoes, butter, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes. Turn heat down to medium, stir and cover. Stirring occassionally, let cook for 45 minutes or until cabbage becomes soft.

Let cool slightly and serve in a bowl or on a plate. Cottage cheese and butter bread compliment this meal very well.

Comments from howard4701 :

I grew up eating this meal. It's very fullfilly. Add cottage cheese and butter bread as side dishes if you like. It's not going to win any cook-offs but it will put a smile on your face. Loosen you pants after your done.

* The base is the hard part that is quite tasty raw just adding salt
