Smartie Rainbow Cake

1 lg. egg
4 oz. self raising flour
4 oz. castor sugar
4 oz. margarine
1 container Smarties

Directions:

Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F. Mix eggs, flour, sugar and margarine together until creamy. Divide mixture into 2 well greased cake tins. Sprinkle Smarties over top of mixtures. Bake for 30 minutes until firm. The colours will have run into the cake by now. Put a layer of buttercream in between the two cakes if desired.

You can mix smarties into icing as well to give it lots of colours. Remove smarties from icing if desired.

in that smartie cake, it calls for smarties. what are smarties? i have never heard of them. also, what is castor sugar?
