Ingredients:

1 pkg. (1 lb.) frozen tortellini
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can (14-1/2 oz.) seasoned chunky tomatoes
2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup heavy cream
Grated cheese

Directions:

1. Bring 4-5 quarts of water to a boil (Note: This is the most time-consuming part of the recipe.)

2. Once the water has reached the boiling point, add tortellini and cook for 12-15 minutes.

3. While the tortellini is cooking, mix tomato sauce, chunky tomatoes and heavy cream into a 2 quart sauce pan.

4. Cook over medium heat until hot, then reduce heat to medium-low.

5. Drain cooked pasta.

6. Add sauce mixture to pasta, toss and serve.

7. Add grated cheese if desired.

Comments from Carol :

A variation of this recipe was listed in Good Housekeeping as a 15-minute meal using a 9 ounce package of fresh fettucine, and the addition of peas when draining the pasta.

The boiling of the water takes at least 30-45 minutes. I substituted 16 ounces of frozen tortellini for the fettucine, and omitted the peas entirely. The result was quite good.
