Ingredients:

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 pkg. chocolate or mini chips
2-1/4 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup nuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:

Beat 8 oz. cream cheese with butter, egg and sugar until light and fluffy. Melt 1 cup of the chocolate chips. Stir into batter. Stir in flour, baking soda and nuts, if desired, along with remaining chocolate chips. Drop from tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake one dozen at a time in 350°F oven 10 to 12 minutes or until firm around the edges. Remove from sheets; cool.

Comments from Faye L :

For a fancier cookie, reserve 1/4 c of the remaining chips. Melt and drizzle over cookies light cream cheese works too.

User Reviews:

Nice, light tasty cookies. Even better when orange extact & grated orange peel are substituted for the nuts for a chocolate orange sensation.

They taste even lighter and sweeter by adding ~1/4 cup of honey
