Total Time:

1:30

Ingredients:

4 lg. eggs
2 egg yolks
2 tbsp. whipping cream
2 tsp. rum
2 tsp. brandy
4 cups unbleached flour or all-purpose
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Vegetable oil, for deep-frying
Powdered sugar

Directions:

In large bowl, beat together eggs, egg yolks, cream, sugar, rum, and brandy. Sift together dry ingredients and gradually add to the egg mixture. Knead lightly into a smooth dough. Divide into four equal portions, roll each portion of dough on a floured surface to 1/8-inch thick. Cut into 6 x 3/4-inch strips. Heat oil to 375°F. Make a 1-inch slit 2 inches from one end of each strip. Push the opposite end of the strip into the slit, pulling it out slightly on the other side, to form a bow tie. Deep fry until golden (about 3 to 4 minutes). Drain, cool, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
