1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
36 cherry halves

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F. Cream butter, cream cheese, sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla in mixer bowluntil light and fluffy. Combine flour, soda, and salt in small bowl. Add to creamed mixture, mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped cherries. Drop by rounded teaspoonfulls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with a cherry half. Bake for 8 minutes or just until set. Remove immediately to wire rack to cool.
