1-1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Heat oven to 375°F. Place length of foil on flat surface. In large bowl, beat shortening, brown sugar, water and vanilla on medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add to sugar mixture, beating on low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7-9 minutes, or until cookies are set. Cookies will appear soft and moist. Do not overbake. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to foil. Cool completely.

User Reviews:

These are really good and everyone who has tried them really enjoyed them. They were gone right away! I only added 1/2 of the choclate chips it calls for and they were just right! Not too chocolatey! Way good!

Were is the MILK!!! Need to reduce the chips from 12 to 6 ounces and they would be great.

Very quick to prepare - Held their shape wonderfully when they came out of the oven (kept my batch in a few minutes longer, switching trays from top to bottom every 4 minutes [3 times]). Turned out moist and the most yummy when still warm. Mmmm mmmm! I think I need a glass of milk :)
