I made this for the 2002 Thanksgiving at my house. It was my first time, and I try to make a different dish every holiday. I found this under breads, and decided to try it.While it took a while to prepare, everyone kept coming back for more, especially my father and my sister's boyfriend.Guess it attracted males the most.I'd reccomend this to anyone!

This is a TERRIFIC recipe! I have had some bad experiences with recipes from the internet, but this one makes up for them all. The bread was perfect! The taste was just right and it baked nicely. I think this is the best bread I ever made. I want to try the cinnamon chips next time!

This recipe was great. I spiced it up a little by making the following adjustments to coincide with my banana bread recipe:
added 1/2c applesauce
1tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 c white sugar and 1/2c light brown sugar
1tsp baking powder

YUMMY!!!!

I was looking for a recipe that was different from the usual banana bread or pumpkin bread. I made this Awesome Apple Bread in the morning when my mother-in-law stayed with us. The house smelled great and everyone loved it. I didn't use nuts, just because I didn't have any, but it was great anyways. I used red delicious apples. Yes, it was VERY moist.

Made this for a family gathering. It went over very well. Moist and very delicious. I was not sure about 1-1/2 hours cooking time. It sounded too long. I thought it might be a typo, but it was right.

I thought this was ok. What I liked was the moistness of the bread - it was exactly what you'd expect and want from a quick bread. What I did not like was the spice, which it really lacked. If I make this recipe again, I'll increase the cinnamon to 1 tbsp. and add 1/2-1 tsp. of both ground nutmeg and ground cloves.

I doubled this recipe added about 4 teaspoons of cinnamon and a cup of extra apples. It was superb. We ate it after it had cooled for about 30 minutes. Incredible!!! Also, I used olive oil in the recipe.

Excellent recipe! I also increased the amount of apples to 4 cups and cinnamon to 3 tsp. This was the best apple bread I have ever had...the 2 loaves were gone within 4 hours. Thank-you for sharing!

What a great bread, and so easy to make!! Based on the other reviews, I increased the apples to 4 cups and the cinnamon to almost 3 tsp. It came out great! I also sprinkled some extra apple chunks on the top before I put them in the oven. I brought a loaf to work, and it was gone within a half hour, and people were asking where I got the recipe! I will most certainly make this again! :)

Very good bread! However I of course could not leave the recipe as is. I used 1/2 butter, 1/2 oil. 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white. Added an extra tsp of vanilla. Used 4 cups of apples and added an extra tsp of cinnamon plus 1/2 tsp nutmeg and 1/2 tsp ground cloves. Then I through together a crumb topping made of brown sugar, flour cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and butter. Folded some diced apples in with the topping and sprinkled on top. It came out so yummy!

I have tried many apple bread recipes but this is by far the best, I always use several kinds of apples in each recipe and increased the apples to 4 cups and the cinnamon to 3 tsp and it is great. It is so very moist and is delicious served hot or cold. Thanks for this wonderful recipe. It makes a great gift!

We had a "Winter Party" at school, one of the moms who thought we needed healthy foods brought apples; the students didn't want anything to do with the healthy apples. I brought the apples home.

(changes to the recipe) I made this bread using half butter half oil; half brown/ white sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla. I was also lazy and stuffed the apples, leaving the skin on, into the blender to make a chunky puree (4 cups).

The students want the "really-yummy-bread-just-try-it" again for our next party. The mom gushed over the loaf I sent home with her child and my husband and doggie daughter polished off another loaf for a bedtime snack and breakfast.

It was still moist and very good.

I love this recipe, have made it 4-5 times in the span of 2 weeks. My family of 5 sisters, one sister in law made breads, fudge, homemade noodles, cream puffs and dinner rolls to do a fund raiser. We sold 10 loaves of this bread. We love it, I did add more cinnamon as was suggested. This bread is moist and delicious. Nice break from banana and pumpkin, which was our best seller at the fund raiser.

My family loves this recipe! Each fall it's a given that I will be making multiple loaves for all. The only difference in my recipe is at the end. I sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar and wrap the loaf with foil. Th sugar mixture melts in and the loaf stays moist longer.

Everyone loved this bread! I added a bit of nutmeg to the recipe
and some additional cinnamon. I got away with only 2 large eggs
(didn't feel like a trip to the store). Definitively the nuts added
some flavor -- I used walnuts -- the size made for toppings.

I followed the 1/2 brown, 1/2 white sugar and then added a little nutmeg making this bread taste like apple pie. A quick shortcut-I used canned apples (pie filling) cut with a fork which saved time and prevented a big mess. DELICIOUS!

I just made this for the first time, did as others suggest (1/2
butter, half oil, half white sugar, half brown, extra spices).

I used fresh nutmeg and a lot of cinnamon and added craisins. I
loved the craisins with the apples.

Also thanks to whoever commented on the 90 minute cooking
time. I also thought it sounded too long, but it was perfect.

This truly is an Awesome Apple Bread!!! I did go with everyone's
recommendation of changing a few things and the bread came
out wonderful! I did use 1/2 c. butter, 1/2 c. oil, 1 c. brown
sugar, 1 c. white sugar, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/2
tsp cloves and 4 cups of apple. The bread was very moist and
my husband LOVED it!!! The only thing different that I would do
next time is use 2 tsp of vanilla instead of 1.

I made the bread with the adjustments (1/2 butter, 1/2 oil, 4 whole cloves ground fresh, 2 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 brown sugar, 1/2 white sugar, chopped walnuts and cranraisins). Wow. Seriously, wow. I used apples that had been slowly turning to mush in my fridge; notwithstanding, it is simply amazing. Will definitely make again (and pass on to others)!

Gluten Free Version:

Use your favorite flour mix, I use a sorghum, mesa, corn starch
and a rotating 3rd flour. Right now it is a "safe" oat flour, but
we're going to switch that to teff for future bakings.
I used 1 1/2 tsp of xanthum gum
I added 1/2 tsp of nutmeg

I couldn't get 3 cups of apples in the bread and I'm not sure if it
has something to do with the differences in flours, or just how
chunky I cut my apples. We also have a nut allergy on top of the
Celiac, so I had to use cashews in place of the walnuts.

The next time I make it I'm going to change out the oil as it did
not play well with the gluten free flour mix, and add a whole lot
more spices. I also liked the suggestion to blend up the apples
with the skin on, it'll add a bunch nutritionally.

This bread is INCREDIBLE. (I even created an account here so I could say that). So glad I happened upon this recipe.
I followed the advice of other reviews and did 1/2 butter 1/2 oil along with 1/2 brown 1/2 white sugar. Upped the Vanilla to 2 tsp and gave it a dash of nutmeg. It is truly awesome bread. Next time I make i will try 1/2 applesauce 1/2 butter for the oil.
I baked it in four small loaf pans and one big one (because I only have four small ones) for 45 minutes at 295 degrees. Turned out perfect.

Loved the outcome. I did add additional spices: 1/2tsp ginger, 1/2tsp cloves, 1/2tsp nutmeg. The result was superb and the addition of the sugar sprinkled on the top during the last 10 minutes of baking gave it a nice crunchy crust. I also would suggest removing from the baking pans as soon as you can and cool them without the pan. Reduces any sogginess in the bread.

Great recipe! Thank you! My boyfriend is a chef and is really good at breads so I was pleased when he absolutely loved it. I used wheat flour and expected it to not come out as well and it was still delicious. I used pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon and used organic raw sugar so it had a bit of the brown sugar taste. Yum!

Tips for this bread:
1. MAKE IT
2. Eat it warm with a slice of cheddar cheese
3. Add a dollop of butter with the cheddar cheese.
Having that bite of AAB, cheddar, and butter may have been the happiest moment of my life.

I used this recipe as a base for my bread. I used apple, carrot and tomato pulp left over from juicing and used unsalted butter for oil. I used 1/2 cup less sugar, and used natural turbinado sugar, and added some toffee bits to be like caramel. It came out amazing!!!

I also replaced half of the four with unblocked wheat flour. The bread came out very moist, which may have been the tiny bite of apple as opposed to chunks, or the butter I used. Maybe it's moist with the original recipe as well! But it had great flavor and density.

I additionally supplanted half of the four with unblocked wheat flour. The bread turned out extremely wet, which may have been the little chomp of apple instead of lumps, or the margarine I utilized. Perhaps it's sodden with the first formula also! Be that as it may, it had incredible flavor and thickness.
