About Me: I started working in the kitchen when I could see over the counter top. I loved to help my father with prepping for the elaborate meals he'd make. Chinese was a favorite.
I joined the local 4H cooking club as soon as I was old enough. My first leader was Ann Shebley and I remember her fondly. She was an outstanding woman who had a great love of cooking and the patience of a saint when it came to teaching a bunch of pre-teen girls how to cook. She had the most beautiful herb garden I've ever seen and gifted my family and I with a large lemon mint plant that we transplanted into our own garden where it promptly grew like crazy on a steady diet of rabbit poo fertilizer fresh from our own rabbits. I still make several recipes that I learned from her and still get rave reviews from friends and family.
I stuck with the 4H for several years and I'm still very active in the kitchen. My kids insist that I open a home cooking style restaurant and I hear, at least a couple of times a week, that one dish or another should go on the menu.
Entertaining and cooking for a crowd is a lot of fun and I try to do it at least every couple of months. Since I regularly cook for the seven people in the house, it's not much of a stretch to add another dozen people. :)
