A relative of the peach, the nectarine is a sweeter, firmer version of the fruit. The skin will be a golden yellow with patches of burnt orange and crimson when ripe. Nectarine season lasts from the last week of July to the first week of September, although hot house fruit can be found year round. Their most popular use is in fruit and green salads.
