Definition # 398

Gaining it's name from the delectable fungus it resembles, the truffle is a dessert that is prepared by mixing melted chocolate, sugar and butter or cream and forming the cooled mixture into balls. Truffles can be flavored with various extracts or liqueurs, and are garnished by rolling in either crushed nuts, cocoa powder or powdered sugar, or by being dipped in melted dark or white chocolate.
