Originating from either India or Malaysia, this citrus fruit was brought to Spain, Greece and Italy by traders and travelers. The lemon's trademark is its captivating bright, yellow skin, while its pulp is juicy and acidic.

Lemons are often squeezed of their juice, which is used in lemonade or as an ingrediento nearly any dish to increase the acid base in order to balance out the dish. Lemon peel or zest can be sliced or grated from the lemon and used to as an aromatic compliment to a dessert dish. Meanwhile, lemon slices are often used as a garnish to enhance the appearance of a prepared dish.
