As the founder of Foodgeeks.com and Winegeeks.com, I’m first and foremost a computer geek, and secondly a food and wine geek. I spent the first 30 years of my life in and around Columbus, Ohio and recently relocated to Portland, Oregon where the mountains and the espresso were calling my name. In the world of food, I have a few great loves. The first is homemade pizza – Mom used to make homemade pizza and every time it was guaranteed to bring in the entire neighborhood for dinner. It works the same in my adult life as it did in my childhood, as anytime I mention homemade pizza to my friends they always show up on my doorstep. And the second is baking bread. As for wine, it’s all good. I can’t say that I prefer this wine or don’t prefer that wine – I do my best to remain unbiased because I’m one of the wine critics over at Winegeeks.com. Sure, I’ve attended the seminars, earned the certifications and have stepped on vineyard soil in numerous regions. After all of these experiences I have to remember that wine is just a beverage, and that its primary purpose is to enable conversation and delight the palate. My hope is that what I write will educate wine newbies and geeks alike, help him or her to get more bang out of their buck and have an overall delicious experience after popping that cork or even unscrewing that cap.
